About DJ Hype

Born Kevin Ford in 1968, DJ Hype represented England at the 1989 DMC World DJ Championships before moving from his hip-hop and reggae roots into hardcore and jungle. He co-founded Ganja Records in 1993, and the Ganja Kru's 1996 album Still Smokin' helped define the hardstep sound. He went on to run True Playaz alongside DJ Zinc, Pascal and Rude Bwoy Monty, and remains one of the scene's most respected DJs and producers - a longstanding stage partner of MC Skibadee.
