The scene in Reading
Reading Festival traces back to the National Jazz Festival in 1961, making it the UK's longest continuously running popular music festival - and in recent years it's carried its own dedicated dance stage alongside the traditional rock and alternative line-up.
The rest of the year, Reading's nightlife is a fairly typical mid-sized commuter-town circuit - it doesn't have a defining club or scene of its own, and is honest enough not to pretend otherwise.

The town centre carries the year-round circuit; the festival itself happens at Richfield Avenue over the August bank holiday weekend.
