The scene in Sheffield
Sheffield's contribution to UK electronic music is not a footnote - bleep techno was assembled here in the late 1980s, and Warp Records, one of the most influential electronic labels the country has produced, started here in 1989. That history still shapes what the city expects from a night out.
Bassline shares the same Yorkshire corridor as Leeds' scene, and Sheffield carries a following for it that has outlasted most of the genre's national moment.
